Here’s my final revision of my fantasy Blood of the Renaissance postwork franchise. I probably had nothing better to do and decided to create a DVD keep case print. Check it out. Too bad, it’s just a poster and nope, I don’t have plans for a big screen.

This is a movie poster I did for my school’s art class, which I’d like to showcase it here.

I had hardly done character modelling before and probably nowhere good at it, but I decide to give it a go. Seeking for perfection, I decide to focus on the clothing details to cover-up the fact that I do suck in drawing the face for the dude in armor. Cloaks, hoods, an arsenal of black armory and self-shadows sure gave a menace to my character. Originally I went for a cool assassin in fine suit and balaclava, just the like one from TF2, but soon ran out of ideas for a toon appeal.
My usual lighting (HDRI, AO, 2 area plus my signature, bloom) are setup for a realistic render. Nothing noteworthy here. Believe it or not, materials for the character are mostly shaders, where I tested out different lines, colors and noise.

Next I went on to create a landscape for my guy to stand in. I would have been penalised to create an epic 3D medieval background because the project requires the use of 2D graphics. Unfortunately I can’t do matte painting but surely my computer can. A quick afterlife slap to my photograph and it’s a painting! I edited the background according to my 3D lighting setup and there you go, a realistic postcard. I redid everything in high resolution and plagurised some names for the final poster.

EDIT: Here’s my latest Iteration.
Had the umbrella and some clouds on the left colored manually for an afternoon lighting instead.

It probably seems that this is another sci-fiction realism 3D render from what the title says, but I can’t think of something more descriptive or radically advance words to accommodate my artwork. Oh, just check it out.

It’s a 3D remake of Erwin Madrid’s illustration Umbrella on Balcony. You can check out the original in his website under personal along with some other great artworks. http://www.erwinmadrid.com/ Sorry I took his character but it looks quite empty without an occupied chair, all credits for your amazing art. I also dropped the church background because I was lazy to model it.
I tried something quite different this time; Rather than applying textures in my models, I created a ‘colormap’ which I used along with the original photo-realistic render of the scene to paint the walls. Some color interpolation did the trick and it turns out to work very well, and I wasn’t even expecting it to look cartoon. Then, some tweaks here and there and finally a bloom filter to give it a movie look.
Looking at the big picture, the original still look the best, of course, he’s a professional. The style is unique, very good lighting falloffs and offsets, and most importantly the umbrella scales and works for a sunny day.
A fancy elephant model I did which is used to showcase my lighting technology. Looking a little too bright with bloom and radiosity.

A wallpaper I made for myself and it blends in with Windows Vista. Great looking stairs rendering using area shadows and radiosity.

Great looking paint shader for my modelling projects and the previous website.

One of my favourite modelling projects, fantasy brings you into a world of…fantasy. It’s inspired by Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep. I had it touched up with some 2D programs as well.
